The new keyword in JavaScript is the new operator. It creates an instance of a user-defined object type.
Syntax
Here’s the syntax −
new constructor[([arguments])]
In the following example, the constructor methods are Object(), Array(), and Date(). These constructors are built-in JavaScript functions.
var department = new Object();
var books = new Array("C++", "Perl", "Java");
var day = new Date(“December 1, 2017")
Example
Let us see an example to learn about the usage of new operator −
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>
<p id="test"> </p>
<script>
var dept = newObject();
dept.employee = "David";
dept.department = "Programming";
dept.technology = "C++";
document.getElementById("test").innerHTML =
dept.employee + "is working on " + dept.technology + " technology.";
</script>
</body>
</html>
